I have for a while been working with wood and was longing to develop a new chair in wood. I have done a lot of testing in the workshop.
Milano 2009:
At the furniture fair and at Zona Tortona I saw a lot of wooden chairs. Most of them have removed the sensibility and functionality of the wood by for example substitute the seat or back with plastic. My intention by this project among others is to keep the sensibility of the well made wood and on the same time to create a new simple design.
The idea: I like the simply and light design which reminds me of former chairs in a positive way. A metal band easily connects and assembles the ash wood with inspiration from cartons. I have made an interpretation of the traditional chair and the icon of a chair.

Traditional but new. Inspiration comes from cartons, light and shadow and daily life. A wooden chair has good sounds when you use it. When you set up chairs in a row you will get horizontal coloured lines. The chairs are stackable. The chair has very good comfort. Text Blue band 12.01.2010/Henrik Sørig Thomsen
